A tomato that moves through the sorting, grading and packing process now has high tech features to keep them safe and damage free. The technology aims at optimizing the pack quality of the tomato by lessening the impact it receives before reaching the tomato packing step. This results in increased profits when whole, blemish free tomatoes are packaged for the consumer. Gentle brushes and/or sponges work together to move tomatoes along belts. Computerized images reduce handling by using pictures to sort tomatoes and divert them to pack-off areas where they are packaged.
