Scientists involved in the blue zones project believe they have the answer to Americans’ anxiety about old age, higher obesity levels and increase in patients with age related diseases. There is no evidence that supplements, or human growth hormones, as well as other anti aging treatments actually work. Time has been given to these medicines and the results show that they are ineffective; one researcher followed several volunteers undergoing hormone treatments and found no differences in them physically after 2 years. With an exception of one anti-aging telomerase supplement that has proven to extend life in rats over 40%, non of the other supplements are worth even a penny.
Instead, researchers with the blue zones project believe that we can learn from these unique communities of people. If we were able to persuade groups of people, or communities in America to mirror the lifestyles of these blue zone communities, there would be a huge and improved change in our overall health.
