When considering if your child may be exhibiting symptoms of mild autism, look for the following traits before consulting with your doctor. Document your findings so that if you do go to the doctor, you can speak intelligently with him about what you have observed and don’t come off seeming like a hysterical mom. First of all,  usually symptoms of autism are going to show up by the age of three. Note if your child seems to be impaired in social skills. This means that he or she has difficulty maintaining eye contact or starting or taking part in conversations with you or others.
