Some cell phone providers will charge you an early penalty fee for leaving their services before your contract with them is up. You will want to know how much this fee is, and if it is less as the time grows closer. You can ask them to wave the fee though you probably will have to pay it. You will also need a port authorization code if you live in the UK, as Ofcom has controls telecommunications there and they have set up the method of transferring or making your phone number portable. Meaning you may transfer it to another provider or a new phone.
