Raising a child is the best job in the world but it’s also the hardest. When your child gets into adolescence, it may seem like the hard part of parenting is overruling everything else. There are some parenting tips however that can help make the transition into adolescence a little easier for you and your child.First and foremost, pick your battles wisely. Remember, you are raising a child who you want to become a self-sufficient, productive adult. That means that right now, they are trying to assert their independence and make choices that they didn’t make at age 3 or 4. They may do some things you don’t like, but is nitpicking at everything they do really good for you or them if its going to cause a rift between the two of you? Not really. Save the battles for the really important things like a lack of respect from your child or negative behaviors at school, rather than them forgetting to pick up their shoes one day.Another tip is to give your child more grown-up responsibilities. This will help them feel pride in their accomplishments and give them confidence that they can handle tasks that they once were too young to handle. In the end, if you cultivate their independence, show interest in their lives, and give them love, things will usually turn our just fine!
