I just picked up krugerrand gold coins today from Northwest Territorial Mint. These coins are great. Since reading up a little about krugerrands I found some interesting information about them.

For instance, the krugerrand coin usually looks a little redder than most gold coins. I understand that they are 22 karat or carat depending on who you ask, gold coins. The alloy actually used in krugerrands are copper. Copper is a traditional alloy that has been used for many centuries to strengthen gold coins and make them more durable.

So anyway, thought I’d share with you guys why krugerrands are redder than most gold coins.
