In the US, enfranchisement is not needed for religious schools to award theology Associate in Arts, Bachelor of Arts or Ph.D. A religious academic degree (AA, BA, MA, or Ph.D) is valid in America. Foundations offering purely spiritual academic degrees are exempt from licencing requirements in many provinces, subject to particular conventions in each area.Some theology colleges elect to acquire authorization in order to be acknowledged to award normal degrees vs. religious degrees. There are several major authorization authorities that specialise in traditional spiritual seminary schools. These are the Association for Biblical Higher Education, Association of Advanced Rabbinical and Talmudic Schools, the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools
